I PR'd at Wharf to Wharf 🥳
posted 4 months ago in UpdatesI wasn't sure I was going to make the start line at Wharf to Wharf this week because of an issue related to my surgery a year ago, but I laced up along with 16,000 other people and had a great run.
Last year, I got a terrible corral placement and spent two miles or more of the six-mile race playing frogger with people who weren't really there to run. This year was much better, opening up quite a bit. I was still running through hordes, but at least people were running and I passed more people than I was passed by, so that goal can be checked off.
I crossed the line with a time of 55:34, good enough for the top 12% in my age group and a full 5 minutes faster (nearly a minute a mile!) than my race last year. Wharf to Wharf is a super fun event that you can't take too seriously, with bands on nearly every corner, Taiko drummers, and people in costumes. This year, it was a bit cold and the roads were damp, but the vibes were high and we had a great time.
