Two Weeks to Sea Otter Classic!

In two weeks I'll be running the inaugural trail race at the Sea Otter Classic ten years after I trained to ride the 50 mile gran fondo that changed everything and started to show me a life that wasn't defined by chronic illness. In the ten years in between, my Crohn's progressed, gave me some near death experiences, over twenty surgeries, and (currently) remission, but the simple act of training for that ride at Sea Otter set me up for also becoming an athlete, author, and most recently chef/owner of a gluten-free bistro.
I'm excited to return to Laguna Seca with just a pair of shoes and my legs to propel me. I did a little recon run today that included running part of the opening miles backwards and this run is going to be a doozy!
I did about 1400ft of elevation over 8 miles which is more vert on a shorter distance. New shoes and new hydration strategy worked great. I'm ready!
